Dead battery in a Brickell garage or at MIA? Get a $140 + tax jump, priced before dispatch.
RoadReady Tow is a 24/7 dispatch service. Jobs are completed by independent towing and roadside providers in our network.
If you return from a trip to the Flamingo Garage at Miami International Airport and the dash only flickers, the heat has likely finished off the battery. Call RoadReady Tow: a live operator confirms the $140 + tax price and sends a provider in our network to jump the car and check the battery. If the battery is too far gone, you hear that before anything else is booked.
Why batteries die in Miami
Miami batteries die from heat, not cold. NWS 1991–2020 normals for Miami International Airport put the normal high at 91°F from mid-July through late August, and January lows only reach about 61°F. Steady heat speeds up wear inside a lead-acid battery, so it often fails here sooner than it would up north.
Short hops from Little Havana to Brickell, stop-and-go traffic where the Palmetto meets the Dolphin Expressway, and long idles with the A/C on draw power without much recharge time. Cars parked for days in an airport garage or condo deck keep draining from alarms and electronics.
Water adds risk. Fall king tides and summer downpours flood low streets, and damp, corroded terminals leave a weak battery no margin. If the car went through salt water, the trouble may be more than the battery, so the operator will ask exactly how and where it stalled.
Which jump do you need?
- Cars and small SUVsMost Miami calls are sedans and compact SUVs in garages and curbside spots. A portable booster pack works in tight Brickell and Edgewater garages without parking nose-to-nose.Tell the operator: Garage name, level, row, and any low clearance.
- Pickups and full-size SUVsLarger gas engines draw more current, so the dispatcher sends a booster sized for it. Work trucks parked overnight near Allapattah warehouses are common.Tell the operator: Make, model, engine size, and any add-on lights or winch.
- HybridsA hybrid still uses a small 12-volt battery to wake its computers, and Miami heat can kill it while the hybrid pack is fine. The driver jumps the 12-volt system only.Tell the operator: Model year and what the dash shows when you press start.
- Electric vehiclesAn EV with a dead 12-volt battery may not unlock or power on. A 12-volt jump usually wakes it so it can reach a charger. The high-voltage system is not touched.Tell the operator: Whether the screen is dark or shows low range.
- Diesel trucks and vansDiesels often carry two batteries and need more cranking power, so the operator flags a heavier booster. Vans parked near the airport cargo area are typical.Tell the operator: Diesel, one or two batteries, and whether glow plugs were cycled.
When a jump is not the fix
- If the EV's main battery is empty, a jump will not move it. That is mobile EV charging, $175 + tax. Mobile EV charging in Miami.
- If the car stalled in king-tide or flood water, do not jump it. Salt water can short wiring. It needs a flatbed tow to a shop. Towing in Miami.
- If the battery will not hold a charge, the next step is a tow to a shop or home, or a new battery from a shop or parts store. Battery replacement is not part of this service. Towing in Miami.
